Description

A large stony asteroid, #7482 (1994PC1) safely passed Earth on January 18, 2022, at a mere distance of 1.2 million miles (1.93 million km), or ~5x of earth-moon distance. The close distance made the movement of the object very fast compared to the background.

Here is a short video directly tracking the asteroid for about two hours of movement, with consecutive 20s exposures. Noted at around 3:50AM UTC, NGC514 came in from the top of the FoV and move across to the left. This is also matching a Stellarium simulation.
